WHAT'S FOR DINNER?

Chicken, corn on the cob and .............. Puff Ball! This is what we had for dinner tonight. DH and I always look forward to these each year around this time. They grow at the edge of our woods and they taste a lot like mushrooms. You must pick them when they are white, just at the right time or they are not good. This one was so big, I only used half of it. They can get to be the size of basketballs. I peel it, cut it into small pieces, and then fry it in butter then add a little sea salt. They are delicious! If you haven't tried one, you might like to.

  3. Oh yikes....I dunno....when we were growing up my mom always warned us to stay away from these things because they were poisonous!! But I just read on someone else's blog a few days back that she had heard they were fine as long as you got them soon enough....just pass the chicken and the corn please - think I'll pass! ;o) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  5. I'll be darned, I didn't know you could eat those puff balls! Still thinking about our gathering. Do you think the beginning of November would be too late? Thought it might be fun to do something for Christmas. Let me know your thoughts, Dawn
