A GREAT DAY WITH FRIENDS

Had a great day today. I met these two wonderful ladies and we had a delicious lunch in Durham, Ontario and a great Amish restaurant called Pebbles. We have worked together for over 25 years and we have become good friends. Some may not recognize us without our cowboy hats on.

BUTTER TARTS

I was up early making pastry from scratch then filling them and baking them for our annual Christmas luncheon at our Quilters' Guild. Everyone has to bring 12 sweet or savoury treats to share with our members. I'm looking forward to this. Have a great day everyone.

A SAD DAY

Today is a sad day. My last red hen passed away overnight. She was 9 years old and the last survivor from the 24 we originally got. We now have no chickens. I buried her today and thanked her for all the eggs she gave us over the years.........

TABLE TOPPER

I just finished up this table topper this afternoon. It is a pattern I designed last year and I was just commissioned to make one for a lady. I custom quilted it for her too. I hope she will like it. It's all ready to go to it's new home.

HARVEST

Good morning.
There was snow on the ground, but my husband finished the corn harvest on Saturday. It has been a bad fall for getting harvesting done. There is still lots of corn and soy beans standing in fields waiting to be harvested. We went out to Montana's to celebrate. We had steak and ribs.........so good.
Have a great week everyone!

CHRISTMAS SHOW

Happy Saturday! I designed this add for my friends in Michigan who are having a Christmas show in Holly Michigan. They are known for their absolutely amazing shows in the Spring and the Fall, but this year they will be hosting one for Christmas. They have a great line up of some of the best Vendors across several states in the USA. If you get a chance, mark this on your calendar, you won't be disappointed.
Have a wonderful weekend.

A GREAT TRIP TO OHIO

Last Wednesday I headed to Michigan and stayed overnight at my friend Earlene's house. That evening we went up to Lansing to shop at my favourite market "Horrocks" and then to Meijer for some more shopping. When we got back to Earlene's we had pizza and wine, then off to bed to get a good nights sleep as we were heading out at 6 am to Waynesville Ohio. We were off and running at 6 am on Thursday morning with pouring rain. It was a very interesting drive to Waynesville as we suspected the GPS was playing a few tricks on us. On the way down, we came to a section on SR 127 where 3 horses were running loose and they were running and panicking. The owner finally got there and he eventually got them herded back to their farm. They were almost hit by an 18 wheeler. I was shaking so bad when this was going on, but we were so glad they were rounded up and taken back to safety. It could have been so bad. Off and running again, we went to Waynesville and shopped around there and had a nice lunch, then we headed over to Lancaster and went to Curry's Open House. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the fireplace was crackling with an open fire which was so cozy. We spent the night in Lancaster at a nice hotel and had a delicious dinner at the Texas Roadhouse. Steak, ribs, salad, corn and a glass of Merlot. After that we headed to the Hotel and had a good night's sleep and we were off again at 7 am. This time we headed over to Berlin, OH and the GPS must have been playing tricks again, but we did see some wonderful countryside. Lots of winding roads and hilly countryside. We were in the middle of nowhere. A huge buck ran out in front of us as we headed down "Dog Leg" road, but he made it safe to the other side. Yes, the GPS took us down roads such as "Cow Path" and "Dog Leg".....a very interesting trip, but we got to Berlin and had a great time searching through some great shops and Antique malls. We had a delicious lunch too. We both enjoyed Pumpkin, bacon and apple soup with homemade bread. I had to have a piece of carrot cake for desert. The coffee was fabulous. After spending the day in Berlin, we headed over to  Millersburg and went to an Antique show, then out for dinner and to the Hotel for another good night's sleep before we went to another great Antique/Christmas show in Berlin. It was fabulous! We both enjoyed it so much. After spending an hour and a half we drove to Mansfield, OH. to another Antique/Christmas show where we found some good treasures, then back on the road heading back to Earlene's in Michigan. We arrived at Earlene's at 5:30 pm and unloaded my treasurers into my Jeep and headed home. I ran into lots of wet snow between Flint and Capac on the way home, but arrived home safely just after 9 pm. We had a fabulous time, but what a Marathon it was. So glad we went. It was so nice spending those days with my friend Earlene.
This was Earlene's van after the 3 days of shop till you drop.
We found some great treasures.

Earlene took this picture of me at the Texas Roadhouse in Lancaster, Ohio. The salad was good, but it looks like I was ready for the steak and ribs.

LUNCH AT THE CABIN

Greetings friends. It is such a gorgeous day today so my husband I decided to have a nice lunch back at our cabin. I made homemade soup and put it in mason jars and turkey sandwiches and hot coffee to drink. We had the wood stove fired up too, just a little chilly today.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend.
Blessings

AUTUMN VACATION

We just got home last night from having a great 3 day vacation in Maynooth, Ontario. The weather was gorgeous and the colours of the trees were amazing. I just love fall for the gorgeous colours of the leaves and the crisp morning air. We spent some fun times with our sister and brother in law. My sister in law Sandy is a wonderful cook, so we had some delicious meals while we were there. We stayed in the cabin on their property, so cozy. We drove into town on the second day and we visited my favourite shop in Bancroft, "The Old Tin Shed". I always love to go there. Kit went with us too and she had a great time. Lots of walks through the woods and new scents to sniff along the way. Yesterday on the way home a black bear crossed the road in front of us. That was so exciting to see. We stopped on the way home and had a delicious lunch at the "Halibut House" in Alliston. The best we have ever had.

A HALLOWEEN QUILT

I just got home from a great weekend in Michigan. I stayed at my good friend Earlene's house and it was just such a fun time. We always have so much fun together. Her and her husband took me to dinner last night to a little town called HELL......Hell Michigan. I had a delicious Perch dinner with fries and coleslaw and red wine. Today we went to the Early Homestead show in Holly Michigan and Earlene was a vendor there. I saw lots of friends that I met through blogging and was told they missed my blog posts. I noticed I hadn't posted since November of last year, so I had better not be such a slacker. There was so many wonderful antiques for sale and fall hand made decorations. Love this show. I picked this kit up the other day to make this halloween quilt. It is called Costume Maker's Ball. I will post some pictures of it when I get it finished. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
~Janet
