FALL MUMS

One of the things I love about fall is fall mums. I have 2 pots outside of my summer kitchen and I planted some in my gardens along with ornamental cabbages. My vegetable garden is coming to an end, but we have enjoyed all of the goodness for weeks. Last night I made zucchini lasagna and it was so good. Leftovers tonight.

FALL IS IN THE AIR

 Happy Friday everyone! I love these cool nights and warm days. There are some wonderful sounds around such as insects buzzing, crows cawing and bluejays squawking.  Yep, fall is just around the corner. My favourite time of year. Autumn leaves, pumpkins, fall mums, apple cider and pumpkin pie. My pumpkins and squash just keep growing in my garden. Soon it will be time to harvest the Sweet Annie. My Tansy has been harvested and it is hanging to dry. I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

STEAK DINNER

Tonight I made my hard working husband a steak dinner with fresh vegetables from our garden.

 

WOOL DYEING

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day, I decided to do some wool dyeing. I needed some muted greens so I decided to dye some and I love the way they turned out. Didn't take very long for them to dry with the nice sunny weather we had.

 This morning I cut some fresh flowers from my garden. Another gorgeous day here in Southern Ontario.

MONSTER SUNFLOWER

 I took another picture this morning of the monster sunflower. It is really starting to bloom, over 40 blooms so far and more coming. This is just one plant. This amazes me.

SUNFLOWERS, BROCCOLI AND SQUASH

Good morning! I was out and about in the garden this morning and took a few pictures. The birds planted this sunflower and it is HUGE. I counted 23 heads on it and it is about 7 ft. high. I haven't seen one like this before. My broccoli is ready and I think we will be having some for dinner tonight along with chicken and some of my sweet corn. The hubbard squash is really getting big too. I'm looking forward to making some great soup this fall with them.

ANTIQUE SHOW

HALLOWEEN TABLE RUNNER

Yesterday was a rainy day so I decided I was going to make a Halloween table runner. I finished binding it last night. I'll be early for Halloween this year. Usually I have good intentions, but don't get around to it.

I quilted spider webs in each of the cornerstones. I'm happy with the way this turned out. Happy Holiday Monday to everyone in Canada today!

FINISHED!!!

After 7 years I have finally finished my Vintage Nine Patch quilt. It is wool applique' on cotton. Lots of work stitching on this one. I had my friend hand quilt it for me and she did a gorgeous job. I love how this quilt turned out. It was definitely worth the wait.

SUNDAY DINNER

Good evening peeps. We just finished this delicious dinner tonight. Barbequed ribs and yellow beans fresh picked from the garden.

MORE BLOOMS IN THE GARDENS

My Rose of Sharon has bloomed this week. I just love these big blooms. The Calendula is just about to burst open and my Brown Eyed Susans are out in full force. Love getting out early and watering every morning and seeing how all the blooms are coming.

COOKIES

I was baking cookies before the crack of Dawn this morning. Baked a few for home and a tin for my Co-workers. A batch of peanut butter cookies and a batch of chocolate chip/oatmeal/walnut cookies.

My husband gave me the thumbs up. Hope you are all having a great day. We got a little rain overnight which my gardens really appreciated.

MORE BLOOMS IN THE GARDEN

Good morning my friends. I took a few pictures this morning of the recent happenings in my gardens. My perennial sunflowers are blooming and the squash is starting to form. Looks like it is going to be a good crop, more blooms are coming. The weather is a little cooler today, so much better for sleeping and working in the gardens.

I had some helpers in the garden this morning. Buster Brown is checking out the pumpkins and squash and Wide Stripe our cat is checking on the Sweet Corn. My Tansy is thinking about getting ready to bloom, won't be long. Friday is here so I hope you all have a great weekend.

MY GARDEN

My husband took this aerial photo this morning of my vegetable garden. It sure is growing. The heat sure is helping it out. We had lettuce from the garden for lunch and beets will be for dinner with pork chops. Hopefully everyone is staying cool in this heat wave.

SUNDAY MORNING GARDEN STILLS

Good morning everyone. I hope my friends in the USA had a great 4th of July holiday. It's pretty hot here in southern Ontario, but I have been outside before 6 am every morning tending to my gardens for 3 to 4 hours each day. I love it and it is so rewarding watching the plants start to bloom.
