HARVEST

Harvest time is here. Spent last night making tomato sauce for the freezer to be enjoyed all winter long. The squash is ripening so that will be next on my list. Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of Autumn.

COUNTRY REGISTER

Having received so many emails from different followers, I have decided to continue with my Blog. I didn't realize so many people enjoyed reading it. I have just been so busy this year, but I guess I can find time to do a post every few days. Thanks everyone who contacted me to keep going.

So last year I was asked to design the Fall cover for the Country Register of Maine for this Fall and I agreed, so here is the cover I designed for them and the Bio that has been published.

Janet McClure ~ Our Cover Artist
I have been artistic ever since I can remember, creating with my hands since I was a young girl. I love to quilt, rug hook and design graphics. I was so pleased when I was asked to design a cover for the Country Register. After losing my job in 2009 when the company I worked for closed, I went back to College and studied graphic design and loved it. It was something I had always been interest in. I graduated with honors at the age of 55. My husband and I reside in a small town in Canada with our 2 horses, 2 dogs, 9 chickens and 12 cats. We enjoy living on our farm and growing all of our own vegetables. I make all of our bread by hand and enjoy canning our harvest from our garden. My husband and I fixed up an old granary on our farm last year and I have turned it into a small shop where I sell signs and quilted items that I make and also offer for sale candles, greeting cards and seasonal goods. I love to go antiquing with my friends and decorate my 1854 farmhouse with my latest finds. For the last 26 years I have spent most weekends travelling throughout Canada and the U.S. judging Equestrian events which I truly love.

A WONDERFUL BUSINESS

I just can't say enough good things about Lucan Architectural. The have been a blessing for getting display pieces for my shop. The prices are great, made of solid pine and Amish made. They will custom build anything for you and there isn't much wait time. Just ordered another piece for my shop. The granary has been re-done. My husband and I spent 2 days this past weekend putting pine on the inside and it looks great. Here is a link to their site.

A BIT OF THIS AND A BIT OF THAT

Up early this morning. I have already cleaned out the horses stalls, done a little raking in the garden around my shop and hopefully a little sewing. I want to get working in my shop and get ready for the spring opening. The girls are out and about eating bugs and I have already gathered their eggs. I have been working on my 9 patch from the "Prairie Women's" sewing group I am in at work. I'm almost finished piecing it, then to figure out how to quilt it. I'm hoping to get lots done this weekend cleaning up the gardens and doing laundry and hanging it out on the line to dry. It is supposed to be a nice weekend in Southern Ontario.
Have a great day!

A SNOWY WEEKEND

What a snowy weekend and it is still coming down. We had a lovely walk to the cabin this morning and it was just so calm back there. The snow really does absorb all the sounds. I could have spent the day, but I had some sewing to finish up. I hope you all had a great weekend. I cooked a chicken today and we just finished a delicious dinner of chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, turnip and gravy and a glass of red wine. I have the carcass simmering on the stove to make stock for home made chicken soup.

SPRING

Well, it is finally here..........Spring! It wasn't a bad winter, but it just seemed long and drawn out.
Washed all the bedding and hung it out on the clothesline to dry. Nothing better than going to bed smelling sheets that aired outside all day. Can't wait to get into the gardens. Things are starting to pop up and the birds are singing.
Hope you all had a great weekend.
Blessings,
~Janet

Have a great weekend everyone!

FINISHED

I finished the blue runner last night. The binding is on and my fingers are sore. I only had 10 positive blocks so I had to throw a negative in.....my "humble block". A blustery day here today. Can't even see across the field it is blowing snow so bad. The critters are all fed in the barn and they will spend the day inside. The horses don't like going out in this windy snowy weather.
Stay warm.
Blessings,
~Janet

BLUES

Another afternoon of quilting. I made another 9 Patch table runner, this time in creams and blues. My kitchen is Cranberry, Liberty Blue and Caramel in color, so I will be able to change this out with the red one from time to time.
The chicken is ready to come out of the oven for dinner.
For dinner tonight we are having Oven Roasted Chicken, Butternut Squash, Mashed Potatoes, Roasted Carrots and Onions. I have a good appetite worked up after all that quilting this afternoon.
I hope you are all having a wonderful Sunday.
Blessings,
~Janet

FINISHED

She's all finished! Binding on and on the table. I love, love, love, how this turned out. A good size too, 36 x 18. It looks great on my table. Red is my favourite color.
Happy Sunday!

QUILTING

I am doing a little quilting this afternoon. Made myself a table runner with the leftover scraps from the red and cream quilt I made during all those snowy days.
Hope you are all having a great weekend.
