THEY'RE GROWING

Just thought I would post a picture of some of our kittens that were born at the end of September. They are growing like weeds and getting braver by the day. They now love to come out of their little nest. There are 7 of them altogether.
Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.

A DREARY DAY

What a cold dreary, rainy day here in Southern Ontario. As usual, I took the dogs for a walk back to the cabin. I got back there, then it started to pour. No rain coat of course :( I took a couple of pics of the cabin while I was back there. Didn't want to stay back there too long..........it is black powder hunting season and I could hear lots of gunfire going off and it wasn't too far away. The dogs love to go back there each morning and Kit always takes the lead.
On another note, I am getting really excited because there is 8 of us quilting girls going on a road trip to Ohio next month. We have 4 hotel rooms booked. Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Look out Ohio :)

DINNER WITH MY QUILTING FRIENDS

Last night I hosted a dinner with my quilting friends. We shared some wine, food, lots of laughs and we even got some sewing done. I made some appetizers to start, then we had curried butternut squash and apple soup, followed by Feta and Swiss Chard pie with a side salad. For desert we enjoyed some Pumpkin Praline pie with Pumpkin ice cream. I always enjoy getting together with these ladies.

SAMMIE'S KITTENS

A couple of weeks ago our cat Sammie had a litter of kittens and they were buried deep upstairs in the hayloft of our barn. Last night we had a huge storm and she moved them all downstairs in the barn. They all have their eyes open now and here is a picture that I took of them. These are our future mousers.

BILLY JACOB PRINTS

Thought I'd post a picture of the Billy Jacob prints I purchased while visiting his gallery in Navaare, Ohio a couple of weeks ago while on an excursion to Berlin. I have always loved his art so now I own a couple of his pieces. I love almost all of his prints, but these two were there and framed in a black frame, so home they came with me.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

CINDERELLA PUMPKINS

This year I thought I'd try to grow some cinderella pumpkins. I think I got a pretty good crop!
Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful weather. Has been a busy time for me. I've been making roasted tomato sauce, soups, apple sauce, apple pies for the freezer and now I have to cook and freeze my squash for the winter. I did manage to fit in a three day trip down to Berlin Ohio last week with my friend Michelle. We had a great time. We stayed in Roscoe Village in Cochocton, Ohio which a quaint little hamlet. I don't think I have ever seen such beautiful scenery as we saw down there. It was breathtaking. Went to Lehman's on the way down too. Here are some pictures. Stopped at a couple of great Quilt shops on the way too.

VACATION

Good morning. Just wanted to share a few pictures from our little vacation that DH and I took last week. We went up north to the Bancroft area to visit SIL and BIL. We had a great time. My SIL is a wonderful cook and she prepared us some delicious meals. We did some antiquing while we were there and we went to my favorite shop, the Old Tin Shed. It looked wonderful all decorated up for Autumn.
Kit went along too, but she had to stay on her leash the whole time we were outside because there are so many wolves and bears around. She would pick up a scent and run away. I don't think she minds for the few days we are there. Hope everyone is enjoying this cooler weather like I am.
September 7th was a wonderful time also, I attended a Blog gathering at Harvest at the Mill in Holly Michigan and met some wonderful Blogging friends in person. We enjoyed a lovely meal together and chatted. Dawn did a wonderful job organizing everything. Her Harvest at the Mill show was a great success and she is already making plans for next year, September 6th, 2014. So mark you calendars, you won't want to miss it.

HOW TIME FLIES

Today, I came across a picture of my grade 6 class photograph. I was 11 years old. Someone who was in my class back then posted it on Facebook. Check it out, I am in the front row, second from the left. I can actually remember the names of most of my classmates.

MY LATEST FINISH

I don't usually post pictures of my quilts until they have been quilted and the binding is on, but I just love this one. I finished piecing it today. It is a pattern by Kim Diehl called Twilight Hopscotch, from her book Simple Comforts. I used red and cream Civil War fabrics.
Can't wait to quilt it.

CABIN UPDATE

This afternoon DH was working back at the cabin finishing putting the batten strips on. I still have to do some work on the inside, like stain my table and paint the legs and the wood stove needs to be hooked up, so I will post pictures of the inside as soon as that is done. Here are some pictures of the outside. Now I have to stain it :(
Windows and batten strips are installed.
Kit is making sure everything looks good.

A look from the back

Louis and the front of the cabin. Can't wait to get it all decorated up for fall. I can picture Indian corn on the door and pumpkins on the porch :)

A BUSY WEEK

This has been such a busy week here and the weather has been absolutely gorgeous. Lots of gardening going on. Yesterday, I planted some fall mums and some ornamental cabbages around my gardens. My tomatoes are ripening so I have been making tomato sauce. I have cauliflower in the slow cooker to make cream of cauliflower soup, and I just finished baking an apple pie and made 2 for the freezer. The old apple tree is so full of apples this year and so is our pear tree. Look what I just took out of the oven. I made this apple pie for DH, his favorite. Never a dull moment around here :)
Hope you all have a great weekend.

BARN CATS

This morning I snapped a picture of our little barn cats. They were born in April and growing like weeds. Of course Kit felt left out, so I had to take a picture of her too.
Some cute kitties. I just love their colors
