A SNOWY WEEKEND
What a snowy weekend we had here in Southern Ontario. I went for a walk to my cabin yesterday and took some pictures. We had over 2 feet of snow. Very chilly and windy today.

I love how the camera captured the falling snow. |
Our homestead. |
Kit had to plow her way through the snow due to the fact that she is so short. |
Louis enjoyed the walk but he got covered in snow. Sydney chose not to go with us. |

BESTIES IN BERLIN
Just got back from an awesome mini vacation in Berlin Ohio. Seven of us ventured down to Amish Country for three days, and what an amazing time we had. Lots of shopping, some great food and wine, and lots and lots of laughs. I had the best pizza I have ever tasted down there at a little pub called "Uncorked" in Roscoe Village not far from our hotel. They had some very interesting beers and wines too. We had to sample some of those with dinner of course. It was a long drive down there, but well worth it. We also made a stop at Lehman's and we enjoyed seeing all the products they had there. I think we all did a little Christmas shopping too. There is a great Amish market down there and I brought home some home made butter and other goodies. It was also nice to get home to DH and all of our critters. Here are a few pictures I took of our adventure.

A SWEET GIFT FROM A FRIEND
Today I went for lunch and did some shopping at a couple of quilt shops with a friend and she gifted me with this sweet little pinkeep that she made. I just love it. Thanks so much Marg.
I hope everyone is staying safe in this nasty weather.

FIREWOOD
This was my workout yesterday. It is the third load like this we have put into our woodshed. Still have 3 more loads to go. We heat our home with wood, so we need quite a bit to last over the winter months. I also took a picture of my window box outside of my summer kitchen. I don't imagine they will last much longer, they will be gone soon when we get a really hard frost. For now, I am enjoying them. I am getting exciting about our girls upcoming Ohio trip, should be lots of fun. I think we may just have to make it a yearly event.

THEY'RE ON THEIR WAY
Made these ginger ornies for a Christmas ornie swap and they went in the mail yesterday. Love doing the swap thing. Hope they have a safe trip.
On another note, I have a big load of firewood to stack this morning. I was too tired to do it last night after eating a roast beef dinner, so I thought I'd leave it to the morning. Good idea I think.

AN ARMFUL OF KITTENS
I took this picture this evening of my DH holding our 7 kittens. They are starting to explore around the barn, so I asked him to hold them while I brought the horses in. I didn't want them to get stepped on by a horse. They are so cute!

THEY'RE GROWING
Just thought I would post a picture of some of our kittens that were born at the end of September. They are growing like weeds and getting braver by the day. They now love to come out of their little nest. There are 7 of them altogether.
Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend.

A DREARY DAY
What a cold dreary, rainy day here in Southern Ontario. As usual, I took the dogs for a walk back to the cabin. I got back there, then it started to pour. No rain coat of course :( I took a couple of pics of the cabin while I was back there. Didn't want to stay back there too long..........it is black powder hunting season and I could hear lots of gunfire going off and it wasn't too far away. The dogs love to go back there each morning and Kit always takes the lead.
On another note, I am getting really excited because there is 8 of us quilting girls going on a road trip to Ohio next month. We have 4 hotel rooms booked. Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Look out Ohio :)

DINNER WITH MY QUILTING FRIENDS
Last night I hosted a dinner with my quilting friends. We shared some wine, food, lots of laughs and we even got some sewing done. I made some appetizers to start, then we had curried butternut squash and apple soup, followed by Feta and Swiss Chard pie with a side salad. For desert we enjoyed some Pumpkin Praline pie with Pumpkin ice cream. I always enjoy getting together with these ladies.

SAMMIE'S KITTENS
A couple of weeks ago our cat Sammie had a litter of kittens and they were buried deep upstairs in the hayloft of our barn. Last night we had a huge storm and she moved them all downstairs in the barn. They all have their eyes open now and here is a picture that I took of them. These are our future mousers.

BILLY JACOB PRINTS
Thought I'd post a picture of the Billy Jacob prints I purchased while visiting his gallery in Navaare, Ohio a couple of weeks ago while on an excursion to Berlin. I have always loved his art so now I own a couple of his pieces. I love almost all of his prints, but these two were there and framed in a black frame, so home they came with me.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

CINDERELLA PUMPKINS
This year I thought I'd try to grow some cinderella pumpkins. I think I got a pretty good crop!
Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful weather. Has been a busy time for me. I've been making roasted tomato sauce, soups, apple sauce, apple pies for the freezer and now I have to cook and freeze my squash for the winter. I did manage to fit in a three day trip down to Berlin Ohio last week with my friend Michelle. We had a great time. We stayed in Roscoe Village in Cochocton, Ohio which a quaint little hamlet. I don't think I have ever seen such beautiful scenery as we saw down there. It was breathtaking. Went to Lehman's on the way down too. Here are some pictures. Stopped at a couple of great Quilt shops on the way too.
