MY LATEST FINISH

I don't usually post pictures of my quilts until they have been quilted and the binding is on, but I just love this one. I finished piecing it today. It is a pattern by Kim Diehl called Twilight Hopscotch, from her book Simple Comforts. I used red and cream Civil War fabrics.
Can't wait to quilt it.

CABIN UPDATE

This afternoon DH was working back at the cabin finishing putting the batten strips on. I still have to do some work on the inside, like stain my table and paint the legs and the wood stove needs to be hooked up, so I will post pictures of the inside as soon as that is done. Here are some pictures of the outside. Now I have to stain it :(
Windows and batten strips are installed.
Kit is making sure everything looks good.

A look from the back

Louis and the front of the cabin. Can't wait to get it all decorated up for fall. I can picture Indian corn on the door and pumpkins on the porch :)

A BUSY WEEK

This has been such a busy week here and the weather has been absolutely gorgeous. Lots of gardening going on. Yesterday, I planted some fall mums and some ornamental cabbages around my gardens. My tomatoes are ripening so I have been making tomato sauce. I have cauliflower in the slow cooker to make cream of cauliflower soup, and I just finished baking an apple pie and made 2 for the freezer. The old apple tree is so full of apples this year and so is our pear tree. Look what I just took out of the oven. I made this apple pie for DH, his favorite. Never a dull moment around here :)
Hope you all have a great weekend.

BARN CATS

This morning I snapped a picture of our little barn cats. They were born in April and growing like weeds. Of course Kit felt left out, so I had to take a picture of her too.
Some cute kitties. I just love their colors

A GIFT FROM MY DH

I have been working like crazy in my flower gardens this year and this morning DH surprised me with this load of organic black earth. I have wanted some of this for years. So we spent the day putting it in the flower gardens in the front of the house. What a job and what a hot day to do it.
Needless to say, I am exhausted :(
I will sleep well tonight. I am glad it is done.

FRESH OUT OF THE OVEN

I just took this out of the oven. Saskatoon pie (aka serviceberry pie). We have three bushes of these on the farm, so we picked and froze them for making pies, scones, muffins etc. Love them.

SUMMER'S LAST BLOOMS

I hope everyone here in Canada had a great long weekend. I did a lot of gardening yesterday and this morning I took some pictures. Still haven't taken any new pictures of the cabin as I am having trouble walking right now because I have so much pain in my right hip from getting up and down off of a chair to put up the pine planks on the inside of my cabin. I was kicked in my right hip by a horse about 23 years ago and from time to time it really bothers me. It is a 10 minute walk back there, so as soon as my hip feels better I will post some pictures. Here are pictures from my garden.....summer's last blooms.
